Empowering Future Leaders: Microcredit Foundation Lider Engages FBA Students on Sustainable Management and Innovation

Last week, the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) had the privilege to host Mr. Džavid Sejfović, Director of Microcredit Foundation Lider, for an insightful guest lecture on “Leadership and Management in Microcredit Foundation Lider: Driving Impact and Growth.” The session focused on innovative and essential themes including green finance, sustainable development goals (SDGs), electromobility, solar systems, environmental, social, and governance criteria (ESG), and more.

Mr. Sejfović delivered an extensive overview of leadership practices and management strategies applied within Lider, showcasing how the foundation contributes meaningfully to sustainable growth and community development. His presentation bridged theory and practice, highlighting the importance of integrating environmental responsibility with financial innovation to foster impactful microcredit services.

The lecture was organized for students enrolled in the “Introduction to Management” courses, taught by Prof. Dr. Senad Busatlić and Adjunct Instructor Dr. Aida Akagić-Hodžić. These early management classes provided perfect context for students to engage with real-world examples of leadership challenges and opportunities within the microfinance sector.

Student participation was notably vibrant throughout the session. The audience actively discussed diverse topics such as start-ups, the evolving business landscape, agriculture, and the critical role of green finance in securing a sustainable future. The students showed genuine interest in exploring how microfinance can be a powerful tool to support entrepreneurship while addressing critical environmental and social issues.

By exposing students to the cutting-edge developments in electromobility and renewable energy systems, Mr. Sejfović inspired future managers to consider sustainability as a core component of leadership and organizational success. The discussion on ESG factors further underlined the growing significance of accountability and ethical management in driving long-term impact.

This engagement between the Microcredit Foundation Lider and IUS FBA exemplifies the university’s commitment to connecting academic learning with practical insights from industry leaders. It also reinforces the critical role of education in shaping socially responsible leaders who can navigate the complexities of modern business and contribute to sustainable development.
