Scholars from all areas of Social Sciences are welcome to take part in the conference, including from economics, finance and business studies, political science and international relations, history, law, psychology, cultural studies and other social sciences. Parallel sessions and panels on these areas will be organised. Please submit your special panel requests to Organisation Committee via e-mail. Conference languages are English, Bosnian / Serbian / Croatian  and Turkish. Sessions will be arranged according to language of the participants.

The Scientific Committee of our conference has been updated as some members were not able to participate due to their heavy workload and their names were replaced with new members. The new committee is listed below.

Submission of Papers and Proposals for Panels

Submissions may be of four types:

  • Individual paper presentations,
  • Proposals to organize panels made up of three or four papers on one of the topics related to the themes of the conference, 
  • Proposals for panel discussions of ongoing research projects that have reached at least preliminary conclusions,
  • Poster presentations.

Papers are invited on the topics listed above. The deadline for submissions of abstracts of no longer than 400 words is February 29, 2016 and should be sent to: fbaconference@ius.edu.ba. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by the selection committee by March 7, 2016. All abstracts will be reviewed by the selection panel. Preference will be given to new papers since all papers selected for presentation will be considered for conference proceedings and Inquiry, Sarajevo Journal of Social Sciences. Deadline for full paper submission is April 30, 2016. Full papers submitted after this date will not be published in the printed version of proceedings. These papers will only be available in the electronic version of coference proceedings which will be available after the conference.

Conference participants are responsible for their own expenses. Some financial assistance may be available to assist those who might be otherwise unable to attend the conference. Priority will be given to Ph.D. students. Financial assistance will only be available to individuals presenting at the conference.

The registration fee includes all coffee breaks conference materials including the proceedings book. It doesn’t include travel and accommodation expenses. All conference participants have to register for the conference. Please note that paper submission is not regarded as a registration. Information about how to make the payment will be available in the conference webpage in February 2016.

The following packages are provided for the participants by Sedef Travel Company at International University of Sarajevo. Please contact us or Sedef Travel Company for more information.We can organize extended programs for those who could arrive to Sarajevo in May 14 or May 15 as these dates are weekends.

Terms and Conditions

    • For Gold, and Silver Package participants’ deadline for registration and payment is – March 31, 2016.
    • Local, and Basic Package participants’ deadline for registration and payment is March 31, 2016.  
    • There will be no additional time for the duration of registration and payment.
    • Payment is required for each individual.  
    • Cancellation will be available until April 15, 2016 and the whole amount will be refunded.
    • If the cancelation takes place between April 16 and May 2, 2016 , the fee will be refunded after a 20 % cut-off.
    • For the guest participants (accompanying family member) such as wife and child, extra registration fees must be paid.
      • 0-6 age is free of charge,
      • 7-12 ages pays 70 %
    • ****A twin room has 2 separate single beds. If you are staying in a twin room, please note the name of the person you would like to share the room with. Otherwise, the system will randomly place you with one of the participants.

SARAJEVO, MOSTAR-BLAGAJ-POCITELJ TRIP DETAILS
4. Day Mostar, Blagaj and Počitelj (May 17, 2016 )

      • Having breakfast at the hotel
      • Setting off towards Mostar

Visiting historic Konjic Bridge which was destroyed by a German bombardment, and then restored and opened to visitors by the the Republic of Turkey TIKA.
Visiting the first dervish lodge in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Its name is Blagaj Dervish Tekke. Ottoman Army took Blagaj region under its dominance in 1446, during that period Dervish Tekke was built by Sari Saltuk.

      • Visiting Počitelj known as the Turkish village.
      • Visiting Mostar Bridge which is heirloom of Ottoman Empire. The bridge was destroyed by Croatian artillery in 1993, and later it was restored by Republic of Turkey.
      • Visiting Koski Mehmet Pasha Mosque
      • Dinner
      • Setting of towards hotel in Sarajevo.
      • Transfer to the hotel and relaxation

5. Day Sarajevo (May 18, 2016 )

      • Having breakfast at the hotel
      • Visiting the Tunnel of Survivors, and War Museum

All the needs of those who lived in Sarajevo during the wartime (two and half years) were provided through the tunnel, and it was the only exit/entrance to the city at that time.

      • Visiting Vrelo Bosnia, water supply of Sarajevo. It is located in the foothills of Mountain of Igman.
      • Driving from Vrelo Bosnia to Baščaršija
      • Visiting Ottoman fortress, White Bastion
      • Visiting The Cemetary of Kovači, and the grave of Alija Izetbegović
      • Moving to Baščaršija and old city tour

Strolling through most exceptional old city of Europe, Baščaršija.
Visiting Kuršunlu Madrasah which had built by Gazi Husrev Beg, and it still provides continuous education.
Visiting the National Library Vijećnica which was hit by artillery at the beginning of the war in 1992, thousands of manuscripts were destroyed.
Visiting Bezistan, museums in Baščaršija, Sahat Kule, the Catholic Catherdral, the Orthodox Church, and Jewish Synagogue.
Having chance to see the Latin Bridge, where the assassination of Archduke of Austria-Este Franz Ferdinand took place. It was the reason of the outbreak of World War I.

      • Transfer to the airport for returns in the afternoon
